DNS (Diploma in Nautical Science) Full Course Details
Full Course & Duration: – (DNS) DIPLOMA in NAUTICAL SCIENCE (1 year Course)
Educational Qualification: – minimum 60 % marks in PCM in class 12th and minimum 50 % mark in English in class 10th or 12th.
(Some Company needs around 70-75% in PCM to apply for their Sponsorship exam But for IMU CET you need minimum 60% in PCM)
Age Criteria: – 17 years to 25 years
Entry Exam :- IMU CET + DNS Sponsorship Exam
Rank on Ship after course :- Deck Cadet
Starting salary (per month) : 500$ (approx) per month
Last Promoted Rank on Ship:- Captain (salary : 12500$ per month)
Medical Requirement : Physically fit and should meet the medical requirement as specified by Director General of Shipping (DGS) Guidelines, eyesight 6/6 (deck cadet) on each eye without visual aids and no colour blindness.

After 18 Months Sea time + 2nd Mate Exam
Third Officer (Salary 2500$ – 3500$)
After 6-12 Months Sea time
Second Officer (Salary 4000$ – 5000$)
After 18 Months Sea time after 3RD Officer rank + Chief Mate exam
Chief Officer (Salary 7000$ – 9000$)
After Clearing Master’s (Captain) Exam
Captain (Salary 9000$ – 12500$)

(For these companies you have to fill the form for different colleges)
“Maersk line” also give Sponsorship for :
- B.sc in Nautical Science
- B.tech in Marine Engineering
Through “AMET University”.
DNS SPONSORSHIP EXAM Selection Process:-
- Fill the DNS Sponsorship exam form
- Give DNS Sponsorship exam (MCQ test based on Class 12th Syllabus)
- Interview
- Psychometric test
- Medical test
- Pass IMU CET (If you will fail in IMU CET then you will not get Sponsorship from any Company)
Note:- IMU CET is Mandatory for this course. Here I want to introduce you with one more exam that is SPONSORSHIP EXAM in different companies for DIPLOMA in NAUTICAL SCIENCE.
Sponsorship exam is only for Diploma Nautical science (DNS). Sponsorship means your job is fix on that company. But for that You have to pass company sponsorship exam and IMU CET both. For B.sc Nautical science and B.tech Marine engineering student will get job by college placements. Maersk Line Company only give sponsorship for B.sc Nautical Science and B.tech Marine Engineering through AMET University.
Important Note: Sponsorship Exam always held before IMU CET. Sponsorship exam form usually published before IMU CET form. So, First fill DNS Sponsorship exam form then fill IMU CET Form.
