1) AFTER CLASS 10th :- 

  • Course name : GP Rating (General Purpose Rating)

Duration :    6 Months

Course fees : 2 lakhs (Approx.)

Education Qualification: 40 % marks in class 10th and 40 % mark in English in class 10th.

Age Criteria: 17.5 years to 25 years

Medical Requirement : If you join Merchant Navy in India, then you Physically fit and should meet the medical requirement as specified by Director General of Shipping (DGS) Guidelines, eyesight 6/6 on each eye without visual aids and no color blindness.

Rank on Ship after course : Trainee seaman (Deck department)

                                                 Trainee wiper (Engine department)

Starting Salary (per month) : 350$ – 500$

Salary after Promotions : 1500$ – 2000$

Duration :    6 Months

Course fees : 2.5 lakhs (Approx)

Education Qualification: 40 % marks in class 10th and 40 % mark in English in class 10th.

Age Criteria: 17.5 years to 25 years (Age Relaxation SC/ST – 5 Years, OBC – 3 Years)

Medical Requirement : Physically fit and should meet the medical requirement as specified by Director General of Shipping (DGS)

Rank on Ship after course : Trainee GS or Trainee COOK (In some Company they directly send you as a GS or CHIEF COOK. All Depends upon the Company)

Starting Salary (per month) : 350$ – 500$

Salary after Promotions: 1200$ – 1500$

2) AFTER CLASS 12th:-
  • Science (PCM) Background students :

Course & Duration: – 1) B.SC in NAUTICAL SCIENCE (3 years Course)

                                      2) DIPLOMA in NAUTICAL SCIENCE (1 year Course)

                                      3) B.TECH MARINE ENGINEERING (4 years Course)

Educational Qualification: – 60 % marks in PCM in class 12th and minimum 50 % mark in English in class 10th or 12th.

Age Criteria: – 17 years to 25 years

Entry Exam :- IMU CET

Rank on Ship after course :- Nautical science = Deck Cadet

                                                 Marine Engineering = Engine Cadet

Starting salary (per month) :- 500$ (approx)

Last Promoted Rank on Ship:- Nautical Science = Captain (salary: 12500$)

                                                    Marine Engineering = Chief Engineer (salary: 12500$)

Medical Requirement : Physically fit and should meet the medical requirement as specified by Director General of Shipping (DGS) Guidelines, eyesight 6/6 (deck cadet) and 6/12 (Engine cadet) on each eye without visual aids and no colour blindness.

NOTE: IMU CET is Mandatory for all these 3 courses (mentioned above). Here I want to introduce you with one more exam that is SPONSORSHIP EXAM in different companies for DIPLOMA in NAUTICAL SCIENCE.

Sponsorship exam is only for Diploma Nautical science (DNS). Sponsorship means your job is fix on that company. But for that You have to pass company sponsorship exam and IMU CET both. For B.sc Nautical science and B.tech Marine engineering student will get job by College placements. Maersk Line Company only give Sponsorship for B.sc Nautical Science and B.tech Marine

Important Note:

Sponsorship Exam always held before IMU CET. Sponsorship exam form usually come before IMU CET form.
