The National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) Maritime Academy stands as a beacon of maritime training excellence. The institution, founded in 1993 with the goal of boosting the Indian Merchant Navy with qualified seafarers, has played a major part since then. Looking forward to the January 2025 batch, the academy is gearing up to receive a fresh group of candidates for its GP Rating and CCMC courses.

Application forms of GP Rating & CCMC Entrance Exam for 2025 January Batch will be available from the last week of July 2024. It will be available on the official website of NUSI Maritime Academy.

NUSI Maritime Academy GP Rating Course

What is a GP RATING Course?

The General Purpose Rating Course (GP Rating) is designed for students to learn the fundamental skills required in deck and engine room tasks. Skills like seamanship, ship navigation, ship construction, and machinery are the key structures in this course curriculum. 

The GP Rating Course takes six months. There is no provision for leave or sick leave during the course. This Residential course requires a hostel. Applicants must prepare to perform practical tasks, such as maintaining their living quarters and the campus, as part of their training. This course contains the necessary Basic STCW courses needed by CDC.

What are the criteria for the NUSI Maritime Academy GP Rating Course?

The GP Rating Course requires the following criteria –

Between 18 years to 25 years before entry in training (On 1st January or 1st July)Height: 158 cm Minimum BMI: 20 Minimum BMI: 30 Maximum

GP Rating Course Syllabus

The GP Rating course syllabus mainly includes English grammar, Math’s, Science and General Knowledge up to and including 10th standard. Both oral and written tests are conducted in the examination.

GP Rating Course Fee Structure

The Fee Structure for the GP Rating course is as follows –

NUSI Maritime Academy CCMC Course

What is a CCMC Course?

The Catering Crew Maritime Course (CCMC) provides training in stewarding and cookery. Work entails preparing and serving meals (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian), beverages, and cleaning services to the ship’s officers and crew. Trainees are expected to chop meat and fish, prepare and taste non-vegetarian cuisine. They are also trained as deckhands in case of a need on board.
